| Daniel Ostrov “Firmament of Waters” Wood, Glass, Salt Installation Daniel Ostrov creates sculptures that embody the subconscious creation of memory and experience, and the imagery within the work refers to the mysterious curiousity of déjà vu. In “Firmament of Waters,” Ostrov draws on his experience working at a boat-building workshop in Philadelphia to create ship-like sculptures. These sculptures use glass and wood to create hull sections that give the sensation of viewing a shipwreck while underwa- ter. “I see the shipwreck as having this déjà vu quality,” says the artist . “being both familiar yet remote to our actual experience.” |
