DON GAHR STATEMENT

The work is in the carving assemblage tradition with the added pleasure of applying paint on wood. There is a concern with sculptural form and painting the work as if it were a canvas. The figures are based on dreams, reality and imagination. There is not a lot of concern with accurate depiction but more an attempt to describe grace and spirit.
