BIOGRAPHICAL iNFORMATION             

 



After teaching several years, he earned a Master of
Science Degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.

During the late sixties and early seventies, Blankschien was working in electronic
sculpture, utilizing kinetic and visual effects. Durring this period, he was winning
many awards in state and midwest competitions.

In 1974, he began using the media of the commercial sign industry: plastic, sheet
metal, and luminous tubing. Although he still works in multi-media, he has
concentrated on tube (neon) sculpture during the past decade, and has been
gaining national recognition in the medium.
