Carmel Anderson

Artist's Statement 2006

When we discover the simple beauty around us, the whole world awakens.

In my art I try to venture beyond the conventional senses to explore the inner soul of otherwise seemingly ordinary objects, places and things. In closely examrning our environments. I start to hear the quiet voices of things that many are often too busy to catch. At that breakthrough moment, time slows - then stops, allowing the subtle and
exciting energy of my subject to resonate within me in a sacred expression of its divine power. I hope my paintings invite a new awareness and perception of unexpected beauty .

I push the boundaries of traditional watercolor technique, mixing in other media and playing with color, texture and transparency in a style that is loose and open to surprise, I work intuitively, embracing the spontaneity of the paint.

In conveying the joy, beauty and luminosity inherent in nature. I share echoes of my inner self.
